2016.

“The heart of a volunteer is not measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.” ~ DeAnn Hollis.

2016 was truly an impressive year for Sickle Life in many respects. Beyond the formalization of our activities as a non-governmental organization in Ghana and successful organization and commemoration of World Sickle Cell Day, we were able to foster collaboration amongst major stakeholders in the Sickle Cell landscape in Ghana who participated in our event and with whom we still collaborate actively.

Further, we were able to attract sponsorship and partnership from credible national agencies such as the Ghana Institute for Clinical Genetics and National Blood Service Ghana,  as well as multinational organizations such as Vodafone Ghana through the Vodafone Ghana Foundation.
These have certainly encouraged us to aspire to even greater heights in 2017.

Our volunteer strength over the period has increased to greater than 50 and we are truly grateful to be blessed with these volunteers.
Our hope is that in 2017 we will attract even more vibrant volunteers passionate about preventing Sickle Cell Disease to join in this mission.

The year under review saw volunteers travel across Ghana, from Ashaiman to Agboba in Accra,  Sompre in the Western Region to Koforidua in the Eastern Region, visiting various locations and people they ordinarily would never get the opportunity to interact with. It has been a great learning experience for everyone who has been actively involved and we are looking forward to applying the lessons we learnt in 2016 to make 2017 an even better year.

We are very grateful to our volunteers and you, our partners, sponsors and supporters for staying with us throughout the year. We appreciate your support and are looking forward to the greater success together this year.
Happy New Year.

Regards,
Team Sickle Life
